Paranoid? Get PeerGuardian.
April 26, 2003
If you were unaware, when you're using file-swapping services such as Kazaa you're at risk of automatically sharing files with companies like MediaForce and OverPeer that try to download copyright material from you. Then they contact your ISP, who can either fire a warning shot (usually just a letter) or disconnect your service.
This is where PeerGuardian comes in. PeerGuardian blocks communication from IP Ranges that are known to be used by music companies, MediaForce, and other protection services. The list is automatically updated, and it couldn't be easier to use.
