Quick Vancouver Getaway
Landed at YVR, picked up our rental car, they forgot to give us a coupon for the aquarium.
Went to the liquor store (Firefly) and bought some Elysian pumpkin beer.
Checked in at our AirBNB, a basement suite in the Cambie neighborhood. Took the train and walked towards Shizen Ya. Apparently there
are two locations. Went to the wrong one.
Walked to the Alibi Room, which was quite a hike. Had some good beers.
Went for a Japadog, street cart location. Sea-weed on a hot dog...mmmm.
Went for breakfast at Pātisserie Lebeau and had some delicious waffles. Chris had strawberries on hers (a heaping pile of them) and I had
a melted cheese, eggs & ham waffle.
Went to Granville Island, and bought some bread from Terra Breads, and tea from the Granville Island Tea company.
Took the boat over to downtown, and then walked to the Aquarium, which was again, quite a hike, crossing a bit of Stanley Park. Realized
we didn't have the 50% off coupon from the car rental.
Saw a Spongebob 4-D movie on Jellyfish. They had a great jellyfish exhibit. Watched the dolphin show and the beluga show. Walked
around the Amazon tropical rainforest area. A bird pooped in a ladies purse.
Went for lunch at Acacia Filo Bar. Really good. I had chicken salad, while Chris had a brie filo wrap. Sat outside. Some guy tied a
dog to our chair.
Walked through Chocolate Mousse (houseware store). Went to Whole Foods and picked up some items for lunch the next day.
Walked back to our car by Granville Island (another hike). Drove back to our B&B, picking up some more wine and beer along the way.
Went and picked up pizza from Pizzeria Farina. Pretty good pizza.
Met Chris's cousin at BierCraft, a place with really good Belgian beers. Had a sampler set. Turned out her cousin had pizza from Pizzeria
Farina the same night.
Had breakfast at Cafe Medina. I dropped Chris off to stand in a line that had formed before the restaurant had even opened. I drove around
for 20 minutes looking for a parking spot, not realizing the meters took credit cards. Luckily we were still able to get in.
Chris had a frittata, and I had lamb & beef meatballs with egg on top, with foccacia bread and hummus. And a lavendar latte. Delicious.
Drove to Squamish and stopped at Shannon Falls. Continued on to the Brackendale Eagle Reserve, but unfortunately we were there at the wrong
time of year to spot eagles. Need to come back in December.
Drove to Whytecliff Park and had our bread and cheese on a bench looking towards Bowen Island.
Went to Lynn Canyon Park, along with 1 million other people, all trying to walk across the suspension bridge at the same time. Good times.
Drove to Vij's to pick up some garam masala and frozen Indian food to fly home for dinner that night.
